The Last Of Us VGA 2011 Trailer
I first learned about The Last Of Us via Issue 226 of GameInformer Magazine. What I managed to piece together before a larger article was published in the magazine’s current edition was that it was Naughty Dog Studios’ attempt to roll Left 4 Dead, Boneshaker and The Road into one game. Created by the guys who made the Uncharted series, The Last Of Us follows survivors Joel and Ellie as they trek west across an almost barren America that’s been ravaged by the cordyceps spore, a real-life parasitic fungus that’s made the evolutionary jump from insects to humans. And while Joel and Ellie hide and scavenge to survive, the zombies aren’t the most dangerous things they have to look out for. It’s obvious that this game runs right up my alley, but what I really enjoyed was that the developers created a lush, bright world that couteracts with the bleak and desolate landscapes that most survival stories have. What totally bums me out though is that The Last Of Us is going to be a Playstation-only game, which is bad news for non-console gamers like myself. The Last of Us is set for release at the end of 2012 (a possible mood setter?); that’ll leave me enough time to scrape the money together for a used Playstation.
